OWWIN (Broken down Old Westbury - Win), SUNY Old Westbury's official Panther mascot is in his 10th season as a spirit leader and goodwill ambassador for the SUNY Old Westbury.
OWWIN is well known among the SUNY Old Westbury community and fans.
OWWIN was introduced to the campus October 14, 2008 during the opening ceremony for the inaugural Panther Pride Week.
The nickname originated through a campus wide "Name Your Panther" contest, where
OWWIN was submitted by Old Westbury staff member, Sheila Washington (Purchasing Assistant), during the name nomination process and was followed by the
www.oldwestburypanthers.com on-line poll.
SUNY Old Westbury teamed up with
Olympus Flag & Banner -Mascot Division for the creation of OWWIN. Olympus Flag & Banner - Mascot Division has designed and manufactured highly visible mascot characters like Ronald McDonald, The Geico Gecko, Tony the Tiger, University of Wisconsin's Bucky Badger, University of Florida Gator and many more.
